Cameron Diaz Taps Her Maternal Side at the "My Sister's Keeper" Premiere

New York – It had to happen sooner or later. After all, Cameron Diaz is 36 years old, an age where most women are either already mothers, or are thinking hard about becoming one. So it is no surprise that Diaz, who, as she joked during interviews for "My Sister's Keeper," may have "a few kids out there that I don't know about," finally plays a mom in the tearjerker film that premiered on Wednesday, June 24, in New York.

And the still-single and childless Diaz isn't worried that playing a mother on the big screen will take away her sex appeal, either.

"I'm not twenty-five anymore," she shrugged. "It's not something I'm worried about. I could have a sixteen-year-old child. I might have if I was a different person. I should've thought about it. It should've probably been the first question, or the first thing that I think people would've asked me, but it didn't even cross my mind."

What did was the chance to work with director Nick Cassavetes, whose "The Notebook" was such an emotional hit a few years ago, and Abigail Breslin, the amazing 12-year-old from "Little Miss Sunshine." Both were at the crowded premiere, along with co-stars Jason Patric and Sofia Vassilieva, who make up the rest of the family whose story is told in the film.

Also on hand for the festivities were Cassavetes' famous mom, Gena Rowlands, clothing designer Rachel Roy, stylist Rachel Zoe, and Jodi Picoult, whose novel is the basis for the film.
